Always a delight to meet as a club and enjoy one another’s company, especially when there are puppies to share.

Congratulations to our winners of the two sheltie specialty shows held on March 28 at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington, Ohio. In show 1 judged by Mrs. Sherri L Swabb, TRILLIANT DO TELL won Best of Breed and Best of Winners. In show 2 judged by Greg Speeks, CH LAUREATE MACALLAN won Best of Breed. Congratulations to our junior winner, TRELYNN ARTOR WATCH ME SIZZLE, judged by Ms. Karen J Hynek. The full results can be found here.

As always, we are grateful for the generous exhibitors and volunteers who participated in the raffle, a significant fundraiser for our club. We couldn’t make this happen without the numerous hours donated by club members.

The club enjoyed some fellowshipping and a brief meeting at our annual sheltie picnic in late August. Here’s some pictures of our time together in Clearcreek Park, Springboro.

MVSSC Specialty for AKC Conformation will be March 29, 2024 at the Roberts Center in Wilmington, Ohio. The first conformation and juniors judge will be Edy Dykstra Blum and the following conformation and 4-6 month puppy judge will be Robert Olsen. We will be part of a larger cluster of shows over the weekend of March 29-31 that includes four specialties and two all-breed shows. See our upcoming events page for more information.

Entries for the MVSSC-hosted AKC agility trial judged by Lisa Jarvis opened October 23 and closed December 4. We had a good showing on many difficult courses. On Saturday, MVSSC member Vicki Head’s Jagger won High in Trial in the regular classes and Sharon Kondraki’s Buzz was High in Trial in the preferred class. Sunday had no preferred class High in Trial qualifier, so Vicki Head’s Sky earned HIT in Standard while Andrew Clark’s Freya won HIT in Jumpers with Weaves. We love to see those shelties run!

As always, trials are not possible without an army of volunteers to run them, from the secretary, trial chair, and course builders down to the hospitality committee and the bar setters. Thanks to Gem City Dog Obedience Club for providing a wonderful venue for us to have fun with our dogs.

The Miami Valley Shetland Sheepdog club held their annual conformation speciality on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia, Ohio. Judges were Susan Christie for the morning show and Mr. Glen Stark for the afternoon show.
